At 32 weeks, my tummy measurements began to measure a bit small. Ultrasound tracked baby girl to measure 11 to 14 days behind in growth. The doctor believed it was very likely that baby girl was just small and would not necessarily be exhibiting any complications ... but none the less ... we began close monitoring that would last the duration of the pregnancy. Mommy and Daddy were able to hear this baby girl's healthy heart beat three times per week with 20 minutes of fetal heart monitoring. Your heart rate stayed in the 130s mostly, but elevated to near the 160s when you moved or I had a contraction. You didn't move a lot, surely because you didn't have a lot of space, but you squirmed and hiccuped and reassured me that you were nice and cozy and doing just fine inside. Daddy and I spent a lot of mornings hanging out in the exam room at the doctors office listening to your sweet little heart beat ...
35 weeks along
We had extra ultrasounds to chart your growth and make sure that you were growing. You were a bit on the small side, but always growing. The ultrasound technician laughed at your big feet and your position. You stayed breech throughout the entire pregnancy with your hands always near your face and sometimes your two big feet squished up by your face as well. You did not have much room to move at all.
As usual, you were being stubborn and not moving like they wanted during this ultrasound. The technician poked and prodded you trying anything to elicit some movement. After giving up the effort she took this picture of your sweet little grumpy face. You were not at all thrilled about being squished all around. Ha!
On the list of things to do to prepare for your arrival .... "Baby Basics" class at the hospital. In one full Saturday class we sat with many other first time expectant mommies and daddies and learned .. the basics. Feeding, diapering, bathing, swaddling etc... Your daddy was very proud of his new found swaddling skills ... which would prove very helpful when you arrived!
We faithfully continued to visit the doctor's office three mornings per week to be hooked up to the monitor and listen to your sweet heart beat for 20 minutes before heading to work knowing our petite little girl was cozy and healthy ...
