Ansley's Surprise Delivery Day!!!

July 2, 2012 ... normal Monday morning.  At 37 weeks and 4 days pregnant we headed to the doctor's office for the first of three visits scheduled for the week for baby heart monitoring.  Baby girl's heart rate stayed calm in the 130s with no real excitement and as always not a lot of movement ... just the usual bit of squirming.  We headed to the biophysical ultrasound for more measurements and testing to make sure baby girl was still growing.  We were so excited and relieved to know that you were still measuring just two weeks behind in growth, but none the less, still growing!!  You took several "practice" breaths and we watched your little heart just beating away.  You didn't get the points on the test for movement because as we all knew too well ... big movements just were not your thing.  Fully expecting to head out the door and get to work we waited for the doctor to return to say see you Wednesday ... Ha!  We were both a little shocked when she came in, sat down and said I think we need to have a baby today. Wow! Really!?! Apparently your very calm heart rate and your stubborn lack of big girl movements were enough to make the doctor decide that having you today was a better choice than staying pregnant for a few more weeks.  So ... at 12:00 (5 minutes after talking to the doctor) we left the office with instructions to go home to get our bags and return to be checked in no later that 12:30 with plans to have a baby at 3:00.  Yikes!! We are going to have a baby today ....

Time to get prepped and ready for the operating room.  Baby girl is breech, so I will have a c-section and my platelets are low so the anesthetic will be general ... ETA is 3:00 ...
